Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program

EFNEP – Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program is a nutrition education program that targets low income homemakers/individuals with children from birth to 18 years of age and who are responsible for planning and preparing the family's food.

Kim Gress, the Coshocton County EFNEP Program Assistant, will work to recruit participants, locate class sites, and schedule classes. The EFNEP Program Assistant is responsible to recruit adult participants, teach the nutrition classes, and report results using official EFNEP forms and data bases.

Those who enroll in EFNEP will be taught in small groups (2 to 12 people) in locations close to their homes. The curriculum is “Eating Smart, Being Active”.  Classes are offered free of charge. A minimum of 8 classes are scheduled at the convenience of the participants over an 8 to 12 week period of time. Each class lasts a minimum of one hour.

Each participant who attends at least 75% of the classes (minimum of 6 classes, which must include the pre and post assessments) will receive a certificate of completion at a graduation celebration. The project also includes education incentives with completion of the classes.
